Oratory of Ss. Gregory & Augustine

Sacristy work is a ministry of dedication and service to God and His people. Working under the direction of the Sacristan, Mrs. Barbara Twedt, sacristans have the important responsibility of caring for the Sanctuary and Altar and in particular the sacred linens that are used at Holy Mass. This supports the sacramental and liturgical life of the parish.

It is a great privilege of Catholic boyhood to serve Holy Mass. At Ss. Gregory and Augustine, individual boys serve the daily Mass and in groups of two serve Sunday and Holy Day Masses. Their service and commitment contributes greatly to the solemnity and beauty of the Liturgy at the Oratory. We are affiliated with the Archconfraternity of St. Stephen at Westminster Cathedral.  This association was founded in England in 1904 and has as its aim and objective to encourage positively and practically the highest standards of serving at the Church’s liturgy and so contribute to the whole community’s participation in a more fruitful worship of God, to provide altar servers with a greater understanding of what they are doing so that they may serve with increasing reverence and prayerfulness and thereby be led to a deepening response to their vocation in life, and finally to unite servers of different parishes and dioceses for their mutual support and encouragement.

To serve Him is to reign.

— the motto of the Archconfraternity of St. Stephen.

Ushers serve our community on Sunday mornings by greeting parishioners, handing out the Propers sheets, taking up the collection, directing communicants to the altar rails and counting the offering after Mass

Although our musical ambitions are modest, our Schola Cantorum is a mixed Gregorian Chant Choir which sings the Propers for 11:30 AM Mass. Our schola was founded in Advent of 2011 and its members have widely varying levels of experience with the chant, and with music in general. Practices are on a specified weeknight and on Sunday mornings before the 11:30 AM Mass. Please contact Elisabeth Corbalis for more information. New members are always welcome and  previous chant experience is not required!
